Wood is chosen to pay tribute to when Mr. Fogg saves Princess Aouda from being forced to commit suttee. The main characters travel in this part of the adventure on a majestic elephant, which is featured in a cartouche on the cap. The cap and the barrel feature an engraved pattern that symbolizes good luck. The clip features a red lacquered diamond card suit, representing Mr. Fogg's wager to make the journey in 80 days.
